South Pasadena Beautiful Garden Tour
Yesterday my husband and I welcomed over 400 people to our garden, which was one of seven featured on the free, annual South Pasadena Beautiful Garden Tour. Each garden displayed principles of sustainability–including California native and Mediterranean landscaping, planting for wildlife, bioswales, permeable paving options and recycling organic waste. In front of our house was the tour’s plant swap, with participants encouraged to bring a plant and take one home. What a great way to spend a Sunday!
- This garden featured a beautiful collection of low water aloes, agaves and other succulents.
- Each garden’s sustainable features and waterwise plants were highlighted.
- One garden featured a front yard bioswale.
- The plant swap was a hive of activity all afternoon.
- Natives mingling with edibles.
- Local South Pasadena resident Alexander Main offered free pedicab rides to many tour-goers.
- Verbena lilacina ‘De la Mina’

Your grass installation in the front of your property was the topic of many conversations and inquisitive comments. The extra touch of the info signage was very useful. Thank you June & Ken!
